Researchers are studying a chemical that blocks the production of sperm, but only temporarily, so you can be fertile again the next day, according to the BBC.
All my snarky inner monologue aside, I'm delighted to find that yet another possibility for male birth control is in the works. And it's one that does not rely on hormones, which appeals to me because despite having been on the pill for 17 years, I'm not comfortable with the idea of everyone taking additional hormones for years and years. In my case it's a lesser evil; but how cool if we can find another reliable option.

sex toys in select stores around the country

Wal-Mart Corporation today announced that they are preparing to sell sex toys in select stores around the country. The mammoth retailer spent a full year on customer research and reached the conclusion that in select rural markets, where it’s stores are most popular, there is definitely a pent-up demand for sex toys among women
Starting with a rural Iowa location, Wal-Mart plans a pilot operation for this new sales effort over the summer. The new store-within-the-store, referred to as the “Home Pleasure” department, will feature vibrators and dildoes at reduced prices. The store reportedly will offer the wildly popular Martha Stewart “Prison” line of vibrators in addition to its regular offerings.
According to Wal-Mart spokesman Edward Kennedy, “While we expect some risk in this venture, our research indicates that women in rural parts of the country have largely unfulfilled desires and needs for these items”. Kennedy additionally pointed to recent studies in urban markets where internet access is affordable and common. There a wide variety of sex toys are commonly purchased by married women..
In rural parts of the country where Wal-Mart stores are sometimes the only retail business around, internet access can also be very limited, so the selling of sex toys appears to be a natural extension of Wal-Mart’s personal products offerings. Spokesman Kennedy told Red Tractor USA that the female customers that they surveyed had privately indicated that they “most desired sex toys in the summer time, when their husbands worked the farms from dusk to dawn, seven days a week.”

top 10 sexual fantasies
In the main room—aha!—I spotted Lauren Davis, the bewitching, long-legged blonde social minx and Vogue contributing editor; she was sitting with the painfully sexy Sarah Howard, who was wearing a 60’s mod mini and ankle booties and is best known for dating Red Hot Chili Pepper rock ’n’ roll star Dave Navarro. She has also just finished making her first movie, about lesbian cheerleaders who hook up together.
“Let’s start with No. 10,” Ms. Howard said. “I want to go on a shopping spree for all high heels, open toe, with a guy who has a shoe fetish and massages my feet while I’m trying them on. No. 9, I want to go to a topless beach in Europe and stare at all the beautiful breasts.”
“Oh, No. 1’s going to be awesome,” interjected Ms. Davis, who opted out of answering about her own fantasies (she’s soon to marry a very handsome gentleman.)
“No. 8, I want to grow out my hair, so I can cover all the way down to my waist—and then I don’t have to wear a shirt,” Ms. Howard continued. “And let it go very sexy—you know—beach-y, surfer-ish, all the way down.” Her hands moved slowly down her body.
I was finding Ms. Howard to be invigorating.
“No. 7,” she said, “I want to meet a hot captain of a yacht.”
“You know, you can get married at sea by a captain,” noted Ms. Davis.
“No. 6, I want to marry not the captain, but I want to marry someone on the same yacht—I’ll just have an affair with the hot captain, and then the hot captain can marry me. No. 5, I want to spend the night with Kate Moss and just stare at all of her clothes and go through her closet. And Lauren would make out with her!
“I want to watch David Beckham play football naked,” Ms. Howard continued. “No. 3, I want to spend the night on a deserted beach with a man of my dreams and I want us to both have our clothes washed away to sea, so we just have to frolic naked all day long, and we have no tan line. No. 2, I want to have a dinner party with all swinging couples and be blindfolded in the master bedroom of a château in France, where my dinner party is going to be, and not know who’s touching me. Okay, and No. 1—my ultimate, ultimate—is I want to watch Kate Moss and Sienna Miller hooking up with strap-on dildos!”
I thanked her and moved on to a nice blond woman in a green halter top and jeans who said her name was Jenn and that she was a personal assistant in her early 20’s.
“Ten, so you’re at a masquerade ball, completely masked, and you have sex with complete strangers, but it’s so hot and it’s great sex,” said Jenn. “But you never see them ever again. That would actually be No. 1. For No. 2, I’m jet-setting to Fiji with someone I really like, and it’s all last-minute, and you don’t pack anything and you have wild sex the whole way there, and it’s on a private jet. Three—I’m not going to make it through 10, there’s no way in hell—O.K., how about unlimited shopping at Gucci and sex in the sales room.”
"every marketing cent" will be spent on targeting women
The male-orientated game and pornography industries have something in common in their oft-attempted and usually woeful attempts to woo 'the other 50% of the market'. Coshland reckons he's found the key. Women will be the target market of the game from a creative and a marketing standpoint.
A game in which adults are encouraged to indulge their sexual fantasies is bound to attract the media's attention but, so far, Republik's Spend the Night has been keeping a low profile. Come the middle of next year, when it launches online, that'll all change.
Details are scant at present, and Coshland doesn't want to give too much away, but the basics are simple. Players go online, choose a graphical identity, mooch around with other players, find someone they like, and find a room. Graphics claimed to be "cinematic" are promised, and a simple interface allows the action to proceed.
"This is a fantasy multiplayer dating game," says Coshland. "It's not like the dating games that we've seen coming out of Japan where you try to win the favor of someone of the opposite sex. We're providing more of a game where two people can go on a date and interact in a 3D space."
"There is little to nothing with erotic content, that has been developed specifically targeted to women either in the game industry or in the adult industry," he says. "For whatever reason, women tend to be written off as people who have no interest in sexual content. We don't believe that to be true."
"Women want to be a part of the experience"He believes interactive erotic content will appeal to women in a way that passive erotic content doesn't. The theory goes that gawking at a porno mag or 'enjoying' a bad video may be okay for male consumers of erotica, but women want to be a part of the experience. It's the central theory that drives this development and is at the core of its success of failure.
"We have found, just in talking to people and focus tests, that women respond better to our concept than men. That's not so say that men aren't interested but women are truly intrigued by this idea because it's geared towards them and it involves them."
He says "every marketing cent" will be spent on targeting women, based on the theory that "men will follow".

He costs £200 for an hour, £270 for three hours and £600 for overnight
Once, sometimes twice, a month I meet up with Justin, a 36-year-old divorcĂ©. We go out for a meal and maybe to a club before spending the night in a hotel. I am a divorced mum and work part time to spend as much time as I can with my four children. Justin also has four children. But what differentiates our dates from the norm is that I pay for Justin’s company, including having sex with him.
This arrangement has worked very well for me for the past three years and I hope it continues. My exhusband and I get on pretty well, but I don’t want all the complications involved in getting into a relationship – I want to be able to concentrate on my children, my job and my life without introducing a man who might well walk out at some point, thus upsetting the children. Although I know I could go out a couple of times a month and find someone for sex I don’t have the time or energy for a series of one-night stands – I want to know exactly what’s going to happen without any worries about the next day.
My exhusband and I had a great sex life, so when our marriage ended, I decided to go online and see if anyone out there could fill the gap. I found a huge number of websites and adverts offering a wide range of services. In the end I found Justin. He costs £200 for an hour, £270 for three hours and £600 for overnight – and every penny is well spent.

Sex tourists are not an homogenous group
Western, white, male sex tourists have been travelling to ‘Third World’ countries for many years and there is nothing new about the sexual exploitation of local women in this context. Indeed, there is long history of sexual exploitation of women under colonial rule and western men have long projected racist fantasies onto the ‘primitive’/natural Other. But the long haul tourist industry is turning this kind of post-colonial fantasy into an item of mass consumption. Sex guides written by white western men, such as Travel and the Single Male by Bruce Cassier tap into the idea of ‘difference’ to justify the sexual exploitation of Black women in these countries. They tell tourists that prostitution does not have the same meaning in the Caribbean as prostitution in the West. The sex guides say that Caribbean women are not really prostitutes but ‘nice’ girls who like to have a good time. A key component of sex tourism is the objectification of a sexualised racialised 'Other’. As author and self-confessed sex tourist Bruce Cassier says: "You think of those incredible....women, ranging in colour from white chocolate to dark chocolate, available to you at the subtle nod of your head or touch-of-your-hat." The racist stereotype of the exotic and erotic Black woman is also an image that is used to sell sex tourism in countries like the Dominican Republic and Cuba. ‘Blackness’ and the ideology which constructs it, is part of the commodity that sex tourists are buying.
Sex tourists are not an homogenous group: they may be women or men, Black, Asian or white, homosexual or heterosexual, middle class or working class. Numerically, the main group of sex tourists are Western, white, heterosexual men. However it is important to recognise that even amongst this group, there is diversity in terms of sexual interests and attitudes towards prostitute use. Although it is necessary to recognise differences between sex tourists in terms of their sexual practices, I want to tentatively suggest that sex tourism offers all of them opportunities to affirm a particular ‘racialised’ and gendered identity. So far as white male sex tourists are concerned, it is not just cheap sex that they pursue. They also like travelling to ‘Third World’ countries because they feel that somehow the proper order between the genders and between the ‘races’ is restored. Women and girls are at their command, Blacks and Hispanics and Asians are serving them, shining their shoes, cleaning their rooms and so on. All is as it should be.

The Sinulator is a device that lets you connect a sex toy to your computer
The Sinulator is a device that lets you connect a sex toy to your computer so that other people can control it for you over the internet. After announcing to the room that I had one of these, I really had no choice but to open the box and pass the thing around.
If you've ever been to a baby shower, you're familiar with the "oooohs" and "aaaaahs" that ensued. We were all impressed with the surprisingly substantial vibrator, which features rotating plastic pearls in the shaft and a vibrating bunny for external stimulation. Also, it's pink.
Here's how it works. Your Sinulator package includes the transmitter, a vibrator and a receiver. You download the client application from Sinulator.com. During installation, you connect the transmitter to a USB port. (If you use Windows XP, make sure to read the installation note in the user guide and save yourself some frustration.)
When you're all installed and have the client running, you attach your toy to the wireless receiver and switch it on. Finally, you go to Sinulator.com and choose a name for your toy. After that, anyone who knows your toy's name can set your toy a-buzzin' using the Sinulator control panel. Neither of you has to register or divulge any personal information -- not even an e-mail address.
The control panel looks like a grown-up version of a driving toy for baby, with buttons and levers and sliders that you manipulate with your mouse. I laughed when I first saw it -- now you can have sex and drive a race car at the same time! If that's not a popular male fantasy, I don't know what is.
But it gets even better. You probably want to stick to the dashboard if you're at the office, but for home use, the Interactive Fleshlight is where it's at. The Fleshlight is a standard, sleeve-style vibrator for men, with a twist: It's also a transmitter. It measures the speed and force of each thrust and communicates those metrics to the software, which translates them into vibration and pulse on the other end.
In other words, a man can be thrusting in Cleveland while a woman is penetrated in Seattle, and the cybersex experience gets one step closer to the holodeck.

ONE third of women who meet someone online have sex on the first date
ONE third of women who meet someone online have sex on the first date, and three quarters of these do not use a condom, according to a new survey.
The survey, published in the US journal Sexuality Research and Social Policy, is alarming for those who push the safe sex message - particularly as chlamydia and HIV infection rates in Australia are now at a 10-year high.
The US study, which surveyed 568 women, also found 27 per cent of respondents performed oral sex on the first date.
Felicity Percival, editor of Women’s Health magazine, said the results were worrying but not surprising.
“People do feel more comfortable with each other when they’ve had lots of conversations online, whether it’s through RSVP, Facebook, or any online social network,” she said.
“If you think ‘I know that person, I’m sure they’re safe’, you’re less likely to use a condom.”

The world's first "safe sex passport,"
The world's first "safe sex passport," aimed especially for users of dating and social networking websites, is due to be launched this week in the United States, the man behind the idea said today.
"Some years ago I met an individual who had intercourse with someone they met online, who didn't disclose that they had an STD," or sexually transmitted disease, Gonzalo Paternoster of Florida-based SSP BioAnalytics said ahead of the launch of the Safe Sex Passport on December 1, World AIDS Day.
"The idea popped into my head that people know but don't tell the truth, and we needed an independent way to verify someone's health status," he told Agence France-Presse.
The Safe Sex Passport will be available - at a cost - to anyone over the age of 18 who goes online and orders the credit-card-size article.
